Today there was another briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Traditionally, the correspondent of The Moscow Post asked his question.
Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov appreciated Armenia's revision to Russia's course. The country's authorities have de facto frozen membership in the CSTO and say they may suspend de jure participation. In addition, Armenia announced some obligations of the CSTO to Yerevan.
"What do you know about it and how do you feel about it?" a correspondent for The Moscow Post asked.
Maria Zakharova noted that the Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that they think about the freezing of membership. Earlier, the leadership of the department offered the allies from Armenia to hold interdepartmental consultations in order to discuss this issue. However, they have not yet responded to this initiative.
"As for the EAEU, it is an international organization of economic integration, where tasks aimed at the stable development of economies and improving the well-being of citizens are being solved. Political issues on this platform are not discussed, "Zakharova emphasized.
We have repeatedly noted that relations between the countries of the union are built on a mutually beneficial, equal basis, taking into account the interests of all member states. This interaction brings an absolutely good result, including for Armenia, which over the past few years has become the leader of the union in such indicators as GDP growth rates, investment in fixed assets and much more.
These opportunities are provided by the single market within the union. Among them are freedom of movement of labor resources, simplicity of the procedure for opening enterprises, preferential conditions for energy supplies.
Zakharova recalled that this year Armenia is the chairman of the EAEU bodies and we continue to work together to implement all the tasks set, including in the interests of implementing the priorities we share.
