UN may not wait for its anniversary

The United Nations (UN) in its current form may not live to see its 80th anniversary. This is evidenced by the alarming atmosphere of the opened 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The United Nations (UN) in its current form may not live to see its 80th anniversary. This is evidenced by the alarming atmosphere of the opened 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The Secretary General of the World Organization said that the Security Council of the organization, like the Bretton Woods system, reflect the realities of 1945 and needs reforms.

The high-level week of the session runs from September 18 to 26. The Russian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Meanwhile, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, was denied a visa by the US authorities.

US President Joe Biden is the only one of the leaders of the permanent member countries of the UN Security Council who visited the General Assembly. Details in the material of the correspondent of The Moscow Post.

The United States of America is in a fever. The state that sheltered the headquarters of the World Organization is experiencing an unprecedented domestic political crisis. Former presidents are dragged through the courts, and those in office are accused of corruption. This also affects international affairs, including the work of the UN.

The divided elite of the United States and from the world community made the teams of "their" and "strangers," almost like in American football. With these divisive actions, the world was brought to the brink of a smoldering conflict, which had already fully flared up on the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR and new regions of Russia.

Without power and money

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said at the opening of the general political debate that "We are approaching a great split in the economic and financial system, as well as trade relations," the Secretary General warned, without naming the initiators of all these problems. He previously lamented that he had neither power nor money, only "organizational powers."

On the eve of the opening session, Guterres exercised his powers and hit the bells. Warned that "the level of controversy between the superpowers is currently without precedent since the Second World War. Even during the Cold War, the situation was more predictable than it is today. "

The Security Council can make a decision and change course, but it is there that the main sources of conflict are "buried." Washington plans to propose expanding the composition of the UN Security Council at the expense of a number of states without veto power, to make this body "more inclusive and comprehensive."

Sergei Lavrov said that Russia will support the expansion of the UN Security Council "solely at the expense of representatives of Asia, Africa and Latin America."

But what is the current Security Council of the organization? Three of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, headed by the Washington Regional Committee, have officially and long ago declared China and Russia their main opponents. The UN Security Council already looked like a boxing ring, but the West put everything in its place in its "national security strategies."

Note that the UN Secretariat, led by Gutterish, did not react to this in any way. I didn't even ask questions. Maybe the leadership of the country that sheltered the UN headquarters was ashamed, or maybe he knew the answer? One way or another, the basing of the UN headquarters in New York has already proven many times that the World Organization needs to be rid of America's pathogenic influence.

Grain to those who need

In New York, they are discussing the "grain deal," the prospects for its resumption, or replacement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the terms of the deal against Russia were not fulfilled, despite the efforts of the UN, because Western countries were not going to fulfill their promises. The West exported most of the Ukrainian grain to its states, and the main goal of the deal - the supply of grain to needy countries, including African ones - was never realized.

But Ukraine dominates the information field, said Cindy McCain, executive director of the World Food Program (WFP).

As a result, WFP lacks funds to ensure food security in Afghanistan, "even until the end of October." In 2023, WFP aid funding to Afghanistan fell by a quarter and 8.7 million Afghans are on the verge of starvation amid the upcoming winter season.

Switched

As I remember, Jake Sullivan, adviser to the American president on national security, explained Joe Biden's decision to hastily withdraw troops from Afghanistan with the intention of switching to Ukraine's assistance. This was even before the start of the SVO, but plans were already being made.

Meanwhile, the United States is pumping Ukraine, not only with weapons, but also with space and other types of intelligence. Zelensky, while in the United States, expects to "put pressure on Biden" and get his consent to supply ATACMS surface-to-surface missiles, which will help the Armed Forces of Ukraine strike at the territory of Russia far beyond the front line.

The history of the White House's adoption of such decisions shows that the United States is inclined to continue on the path of escalation of an indirect conflict with Russia in Ukraine. This, in particular, is evidenced by the supply of cluster ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a shell with depleted uranium, and other lethal weapons.

Meanwhile, tension on the fields of the UN General Assembly is growing. This time, the tension can be strong, and the statements - sharp.
