Russian Foreign Ministry: the West started talking about the confiscation of Russian assets due to the need to survive

Today there was another briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Traditionally, the correspondent of The Moscow Post asked his questions.

The first question of the journalist of our publication touched upon the topic of speculation about the use of blocked funds of the Russian Federation for the restoration of Ukraine. The EU authorities have long been talking about sponsoring Ukraine at the expense of Russian assets.

"You even called the freezing of Russian assets theft. If the illegal use of assets occurs, what retaliatory measures can be taken by Russia?, "The correspondent asked.

Maria Zakharova pointed out that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on this topic. Not so long ago, the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov also spoke about this. Recently, representatives of the economic bloc of the Government of the Russian Federation once again commented on this topic.

The diplomat spoke about the political background of such conversations. The thing is that money is running out, states need to survive, so increasingly the media are thinking about where to take funds for further existence. Another factor is the situation in the Middle East. Obviously, the involvement of the West in this situation will also concern the sphere of finance.

Another question concerned the actions of the countries of the unfriendly West to issue visas to Russian diplomats. Earlier, France disrupted Russia's participation in the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.

Also, the representative of the State Department for APEC said that the US authorities sent invitations to the November summit in San Francisco to all participants in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

"The State Department said it will work to ensure the proper participation of the delegation from the Russian Federation in the summit. What can you say about this?, "The question was asked.

Maria Zakharova pointed out that Washington has not yet issued visas to all representatives of the Russian delegation to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, which will be held in San Francisco on November 15-17.

The final question concerned the topic of the incident at the demarcation line with South Ossetia. Earlier, Georgian authorities said that the Russian military allegedly shot a Georgian citizen while trying to detain. The diplomat was asked to comment on this incident.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is aware of the EU's reaction to the incident with the illegal crossing by Georgian citizens of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia in the area of one of the settlements.

Moscow is surprised by this position of the European Union. The obvious facts and detailed explanations of the South Ossetian side, which were previously given, were ignored. The most shocking thing is that Brussels is categorically trying to shift responsibility for what happened to Russia. These are false, politicized and lopsided assessments that indicate the clear bias and bias of the European Union, which undermine its role as one of the organizations of the co-chairs of the international discussion on security and stability in Transcaucasia.

In the West, they should focus on what is happening in reality, and not come up with a mythical story by the involvement of Moscow. If Brussels wants to be involved in the situation, let it contribute to preventing provocations in the South Ossetian border.

"The Russian Federation regularly called on EU representatives to do this. As for the texture of what happened, one should focus on the statements of the representatives of South Ossetia, "Maria Zakharova summed up.
