Today there was another briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Traditionally, the correspondent of The Moscow Post asked his questions.

The first question of the journalist of our publication touched upon the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

"How does Russia feel about the idea of putting the Gaza Strip under the UN protectorate, or the administration of Mahmoud Abbas? Will Russia support any of these options at the UN level if it is considered?, "The question was asked.

Maria Zakharova pointed out that the international legal basis for resolving the situation has long been agreed upon. The task is to help the parties launch the negotiation process on the entire range of final status issues, as a result of which an independent state of Palestine should be created within the borders of 1967 with the capital in East Jerusalem, which would exist in peace and security with Israel. It is this and only this approach that can guarantee peace "on earth."

Russia consistently advocates the restoration of inter-Palestinian unity and is ready to further promote the process of rapprochement of the positions of all influential Palestinian political forces, their consolidation on the PLO platform.

Another issue was raised by the construction of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline. The diplomat was asked whether the Russian Federation is really going to build its part of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline, i.e. the continuation of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline in China, even despite the lack of final agreements with China. And, accordingly, without confidence that in the future the branch will be fully loaded.

The Moscow Post journalist recalled that earlier plans to approve project documentation for this gas pipeline by 2024 were announced by Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

"Is there a threat that in this case the gas pipeline may lose economic feasibility?" - the correspondent asked.

The diplomat noted that the interaction between the Russian Federation and China is strategic. The volume of gas pumping through the Power of Siberia is steadily increasing. The design of a new, Far Eastern route of the gas pipeline is underway, an intergovernmental agreement on this was signed in early 2023. On the Chinese side, the conditions for the supply of natural gas through the territory of Mongolia are being worked out, while joint design and survey work is already being carried out with Mongolian partners.

As for practical issues of interaction, you need to contact the economic operators of the project. Obviously, any agreements with the Chinese and Mongolian parties will be based on the principles of economic feasibility and mutual benefit.
