Today there was another briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Traditionally, The Moscow Post correspondent asked his questions
The first question concerned the situation around the publication of a report on the results of the IAEA mission to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
"How do you assess its content? What can give (gave, promises to give) a meeting of the UN Security Council on this problem? "- asked the journalist.
Maria Zakharova noted that when assessing the report of Director General Rafael Grossi, the IAEA following the results of the past mission to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, that despite the active opposition of the Ukrainian side, the visit to the facility took place, which in itself is a positive fact.
The situation completely neutralizes the statements of the Kyiv regime and its Western sponsors that the agency for a long time did not have the opportunity to perform control functions provided for by the mandate at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
The mission visit is also an example of constructive and respectful interaction between Russia and the IAEA, with the provision of all information and the organization of logistics opportunities for fulfilling direct duties.
Zakharova expressed the hope that the mission itself and the constant presence of IAEA inspectors at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant will allow an objective assessment of the situation at the facility. At the same time, as the diplomat noted, in the final report of the mission there is no indication of the side that regularly fires at the station, which lead to a violation of the nuclear physical safety of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
Maria Zakharova: Borrell sits, publishes posts every day that he himself does not see, he must give a report in his words
Russia expressed bewilderment about this. The fact that the shelling of the station is worth the Kyiv regime is known not only to Russia, but also to the leadership of the IAEA, all Western countries know this, which encourage dangerous provocations of the Zelensky regime. Intimidation is a credo of the West and the Kyiv regime, about which they prefer to keep quiet and block their puppet project.
Western countries at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation around the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant on September 6 preferred to express full support for the Kyiv regime.
"There is shooting, shelling of the object, while a report is being issued, where it is not said who is to blame for this. But the countries of the West, as it were, do not see who is to blame, but at the same time supports the Kyiv regime. And who is shelling then? There are few options. Or the Kyiv regime, or Russian troops, or aliens. It is impossible, without naming who creates a threat to a nuclear facility, to express political support for one side that is divorced from reality, "said Maria Zakharova.
At the same UN meeting, Western states insisted on the creation of a certain demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, by which they mean the withdrawal of Russian units from there and the transfer of control to Ukraine.
Maria Zakharova noted that the Russian Federation in this matter is radically at odds with the West, since the safety of large nuclear power plants in Europe is an unconditional priority for the Russian Federation, unlike those who are ready to please their own political aspirations. The Kyiv regime uses the station to create threats and nuclear blackmail, and the West has worked out a series of staging, provocations and crimes under someone else's flag.
"Talking about the transfer of a nuclear facility under the control of the Kyiv regime is simply ridiculous and means that the whole world will be doomed to destruction and a nuclear catastrophe," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up.
Russia will seek explanations from Borrell
Another question from The Moscow Post concerned the antics of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, who during his speech called the Russian Federation a "fascist state."
"Has a transcript of his remarks to Russia been received? What could be the consequences? "The journalist asked.
Maria Zakharova noted that the transcript of Borrell's speech was never provided. Initially, EU representatives told all parties that the politician's words were allegedly translated incorrectly. The Russian Foreign Ministry is persistently seeking a bilingual transcript of Borrell's words; a note of the relevant requirement has been sent to the EU foreign policy service.
In Europe, they must find strength and tell the truth, say publicly.
"A person sits, publishes posts every day that he himself does not see, he must give a report in his words. There are verbal forces for nonsense, but there is no explanation, it doesn't happen, "Zakharova noted and added that such actions are the lot of people who do not occupy high posts.
Borrell's scandalous statements testify to the degradation of the professional and moral standards of European Union diplomacy.
Reacting to this question, Borrell had the opportunity to distance himself from the scandalous formulations and recall the difficult moment in the history of the continent and his country. Perhaps Russia thinks too well about European diplomats who seem to know nothing about the history of the 20th century.
This, as the diplomat said, is not about a simple reservation or reproduction of other people's words. Any accusations of fascism by Russia are extremely offensive and blasphemous, it is a direct insult to the country and people who have done a lot to liberate Europe and the whole world.
"There is no need to muffle the scandal with stories about poor-quality translation - no one will buy it," Maria Zakharova summed up.
