Maria Zakharova: Russia will not let the West hush up the uncomfortable question of explosions on Nord Stream

Today there was another briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Traditionally, the correspondent of The Moscow Post asked his question.

Our journalist recalled that earlier in the Security Council, a resolution of Russia and China was not adopted to investigate the act of sabotage on the Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "Russia will continue to seek to take all necessary measures to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice."

"What specific steps are planned to be taken? In particular, in order to draw the attention of the UN Security Council to security issues, for example, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant?, "- asked the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Despite the fact that the Russian draft resolution on the establishment by the UN Secretary General of an independent commission to investigate the circumstances of the explosion on the Nord Stream gas pipelines did not get enough votes, "no one will be able to release this issue on the brakes, hush it up, push it under the carpet," Maria Zakharova said.

The document was considered at a meeting on March 27, a number of countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America called on Germany, Denmark and Sweden to submit the results of their national investigations as soon as possible.

No one at the UN has argued that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, which entailed severe environmental and economic consequences, should be brought to justice.

Until Berlin, Copenhagen, and Stockholm are ready for a joint investigation into the sabotage with the injured party, including the Russian Federation, there is no need to talk about the transparency of the actions taken.

On the contrary, countries are trying to interfere with an objective investigation as much as possible. Russian diplomats will continue to raise this uncomfortable topic for the West, and demand a report on national investigations.

"All in order to avoid such barbaric attacks in the future, to protect the global energy infrastructure. It is possible to do this only by establishing the truth and punishing those who are behind the terrorist attack and those who performed it, "Maria Zakharova summed up.
