The international anti-fascist forum in Moscow, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, brought together politicians and representatives of public organizations from many countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, welcoming the forum participants, announced the need to unite efforts to prevent the spread of racism, Nazism, fascism, Russophobia, anti-Semitism, and other aggressive ideologies based on inciting hatred, intolerance, and propaganda of national exclusivity on the planet. Details in the material of the correspondent UtroNews.
Today, Nazism and Russophobia have again grown to the level of the main component of European politics. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov bitterly noted that "There is no such word that would characterize this phenomenon... it is incomprehensible to the mind how the European Union openly wants to renew the European ideology of Nazism, where it originated, was destroyed, categorically banned by the Nuremberg Tribunal. "
Threaten leaders, support Kyiv
Leadership in this process belongs to the "Brussels bureaucracy," the minister said and called it sad, alarming events. It got to the point that Brussels threatens those of its "wards" who plan to visit Moscow at the Victory Parade.
Earlier, the head of the diplomatic office of the European Union, Kaya Kallas, warned politicians against traveling to Moscow on May 9, but called on European leaders to go to Kyiv that day.
"EU partners emphasize that Europe needs to become more sovereign, more responsible for its own defense and more ready to act and independently eliminate urgent and future problems and threats as part of an integrated approach. In connection with the adoption of the White Paper on the future of European defense, we call for the intensification of work in all areas, "Callas's colleagues from European countries believe.
Apart from hallucinations on the basis of "European defense," it should be noted that Moscow had long hoped that Europe would free itself from dense American guardianship, become independent and predisposed to peaceful cooperation. But events went according to a different scenario. Awareness of the value of sovereignty has made European elites even more embittered and aggressive. Aggression naturally spills out towards Russia. European capitals cannot forget that once Russian commanders and soldiers brought order to Europe.
It is no coincidence that "the European Union must also fully fulfill its role in supporting further steps towards a fair and long-term peace in Ukraine.... Now Europe is the source of almost two-thirds of the total aid to Ukraine and 60% of military aid," the Foreign Ministers of Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, France, as well as the EU High Representative following the meeting in Madrid.
Splashing hatred towards Russia is also a way to retain power, to explain the rise in electricity prices by the fact that Moscow uses gas supplies as a weapon. Lies about current affairs are intertwined with historical untruths. And it is not surprising that voters believe in all this and also hate the Russians. It turned out in Ukraine, it turns out in Europe.
Ersatz history comes from "modern realities"
Germany is considered the "homeland" of all kinds of substitutes. These are ersatz coffee, sugar and butter substitutes. Everything that was missing during World War II was produced as imitations. German ersatz tobacco was paper soaked in nicotine, or corn leaves, ersatz coffee was made from acorns and chicory.
In the political history of Germany of the last century, there was also an acute deficit. There was little uplifting, politicians simply had nothing to be proud of, but in memory there was such that there was no excuse. This is rooted in the reasons for unbridled myth-making, evil Russophobia, which explains the birth of an exculpatory ersatz history of both Germany and Europe.
More recently, in September 2019, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, speaking in Warsaw at events marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, apologized "for the historical guilt of Germany."
About 250 officials from 40 countries took part in those events, including 20 presidents and four prime ministers. The Polish authorities decided not to send an official invitation to Russia. Invitations were sent only to NATO, EU and Eastern Partnership countries, "based on modern, not historical realities."
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this step then, indicated that the Kremlin has a negative attitude to Poland's decision not to invite the Russian Federation to memorial events on the occasion of the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
So, the Poles, and with them the Germans represented by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, crossed the line of historical decency, and not only. It is difficult to say whether the era of ersatz history of World War II began then, or much earlier. English newspapers, for example, never printed photographs of the Red Banner erected over the Reichstag.
Just a year after the ersatz apology in Warsaw, the Americans followed suit. The former allies of the USSR in 2020 issued a souvenir anniversary coin on the occasion of the next anniversary of victory in World War II, but only with the flags of the USA and Great Britain, as well as France.
And why be surprised after that? You can only be publicly indignant, but this is only to the delight of spiteful critics. They know that at least ersatz history came to Russia!
People on the other side
As the deputy head of the Russian diplomatic service Alexander Grushko noted, an ideological struggle unfolded around the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a sacred event for the people.
"This testifies to the depth of the fall of the moral, political and any other people who are on the other side," he said during the round table of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs on the topic "United Europe against Russia in 1941 and 2025. 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the current foreign policy context. "
The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation noted that the leadership of the European Union is aware of the presence of pro-fascist and pro-Nazi politicians and statesmen in some European countries.
But the irony is that these pro-Nazi politicians, or "people from the other side," have become allies of Brussels in the confrontation with Moscow. They, like Zelensky, are doing a dirty but useful job for EuroNATO. This also explains why the European Union, which has declared its desire for European sovereignty, severely suppresses any manifestations of sovereignty and independence at the national level.
This becomes similar to fascist practices, Grushko said, adding that "the legal system is used to persecute the objectionable." "The methods that the European Union uses in suppressing any manifestations of sovereignty and independence in the national arena are, of course, approaching Nazi and fascist practices in scale," the deputy minister added.
Nordic region
Grushko also pointed out that the hostile policy of the alliance relies on offensive military planning directed against the security interests of the Russian Federation.
Russia will use all available means to ensure its defense capability against the background of the aggressive aspirations of the North Atlantic Alliance, Grushko said. "We will be looking closely at the evolution of the situation. And if necessary, we will make and implement other decisions that we consider necessary, "the diplomat emphasized.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also drew attention to the fact that Russia sees how, due to NATO's aggressive aspirations, the Nordic region is man-made into an arena of confrontation, although initially this region and the Baltic Sea regions "have always been the most militarily calm."
Russia will respond in proportion to the risks and threats posed by Estonia as a NATO member in the event of illegal actions against Russian ships in the Baltic, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.
The diplomat recalled that on April 14, amendments to give the Estonian Navy the right to use force against foreign ships, "intercept, redirect or otherwise force civilian ships to change course" came into force in Estonian legislation.
"If the actions are directed against Russian courts, our country will respond in proportion to the risks and threats posed by Estonia as a NATO member state," Zakharova said.
